The drape is often featured in 1980s furniture to hide their technical structure. Chairs such as Miss Wirt, Dr Bloodmoney, Miss Beason (Philip Starck) and Chaise Cornette (Martin Szekely) represent the 80’s vibe. DRAPERIE Series tries to react on these appearances by highlighting this concept.
DRAPERIE Series started as a research into chairs in which a mesh is draped over a basic structure, allowing the mesh to fall naturally. The mesh, connected on the basic structure, than can be adjusted in order to meet personal needs or wishes and to define individual ergonomics.
DRAPERIE Series is an ongoing research project now finalising in a couple of chairs and cupboards matching their materials and construction principles.
